FAQ on high-carbon tripods - frequently asked questions

How is the tripod assembled?

At first, look for a preferably firm and flat surface. Uneven surfaces can be leveled out by the length adjustment of the tripod feet. If the surface is soft, it may be possible that the tripod feet have to be underlaid so they cannot sink.
The high-carbon monopod can both be used as a monopod or as a tripod. Thanks to the fact that the monopod can be assembled very easily, the assembly as a tripod is described in the following. At first, align the monopod with tripod foot vertically - towards the earth's centre. Please use the included level and work in a 90 degree angle while aligning, in this way you will succeed in the best way. Also make sure that the carbon tripod does not wholly touch the floor. The load should be on the three outer tripod feet. If not already happened, mount your camera onto the pole head and adjust the inclination. Now start extending beginning from the highest segment. By opening a quick lock, the pole segment can be easily twisted. In this way you can swivel the camera when the pole is extended.
Caution: Before assembling the tripod, please make sure that all quick locks have a correct preload. The preload can be adjusted in just a few seconds by means of a knurled screw.

Which telescopic poles can be used as monopods and which as tripods?

Generally, you can buy all telescopic poles as monopods.
In addition, you will receive a tripod foot as an accessory for the 10m and 13m tripods. The 7.5m model can thus only be used as monopod!
The 10m and 13m models can also be used as monopod, however, we recommend using the tripod foot for a working height of approximatel 10metres.

Difference and advantages and disadvantages of high-carbon tripods and drones/multicopters

Advantages of high-carbon tripods:

  • Easier handling
  • No extra permission needed for climbing, also no individual permission needed for every permission.
  • Often the only possibility to take pictures in halls or above crowds (events).
  • No additional "drone" insurance required (normally existing personal or business liability insurance sufficient for the high-carbon tripod)
  • No drifting off, important for instance for panoramic pictures Drones with position-hold function drift of in the area of <1m when they are used in heights of 10 metres.
  • Not many batteries are necessary as for a drone flight. For a drone, batteries have to also be charged for the camera, the live picture coverage and for the drone itself besides the transmitter battery (remote control). Between 2 and 8 flight batteries are needed for on-site operation that all have be charged beforehand. The preparation time is longer.

Advantages of drones:

  • More flexible in usage, significantly higher working heights possible.
